This is from a couple of weeks ago when I did a job with photographer Alicia Scott. Ivan and his team at Frenz Hair Salon were great to work with and it was a fun shoot. I even managed to plug Rollei into the lights, via pocket wizards, and snap a couple of shots
See one of the final shots on Alicia’s page HERE
The last lot of images from the weekend of Urbex/Parkour.
The only problem with going out with a group is that you cant be everywhere at once.
Still need to practice a bit more
Nikon D90, Sigma 12-24mm Lens, 3 x Pocket Wizards, Nikon SB-80 and SB-28 Speedlights.
First edit of Parkour Images from Sunday
Nikon D90, Sigma 12-24mm Lens
The only shot I have processed so far from yesterdays Urbex/Parkour crossover
More to come
Just to show that not everything is better in Black and White…
I finally got around to pulling apart my broken Canon Demi S half frame camera to see if I could get it back up and running. I found a repair manual online for a slightly different model of camera and started dismantling. There was a major difference unfortunatley in how the front cover came off which would have saved a lot of time and trouble but you live and learn.
I got it all back together (with no extra bits left out) with the initial problem fixed but another problem arose which meant I needed to pull it al apart again… Lets just say its a work in progress
Luckily while I was doing this I was also bidding on another one online
Dogfish washed up onto Petone beach after a rather large storm.
Last post from the GCSB protest on last weekend in Wellington.
These ones were taken on a Nikon FG20 which I bought from an Op Shop for $35. The film is also 8 years expired which gives it a bit of flaring and blocking out of the blacks.
I quite liked the effect as its not your usual super sharp, super well exposed documentary photos we are use to seeing.
The second bunch of images from the protest in the weekend.
Posts have been a bit far apart of late and to be perfectly honest I have been out taking a whole heap of images, partly because its winter and cold outside.
I have just invested in a set of studio lights (Bowens Gemini 750s with batteries) and haven’t really had them out of there case since I got them The double garage under the house is being roughly converted to a studio space and eventually I should start setting up some shoots there. I am however excited by the prospect of taking the lights out to some urbex locations to shoot some portraits but really need the weather to be a bit more settled.
I went out for the first time to shoot street yesterday and although I didn’t take any images I’m going to try and get out at least once a week.
Anyway hopefully this means a few more images to come onto the blog.
Here is a shot from a couple of months ago from Fergus as I was just starting to get bits and peices set up…

Well it looks like its been a while since I have posted anything…
I went to the GCSB Protest in Wellington last Saturday along with my trusty Rolleiflex Only just started scanning the shots today and so far this one stands out…
In hindsight it is a bit weird that I went to a protest about being watched and listened in on… Street photographer and all
Still haven’t been getting out street shooting lately but taking the occasional shot when I do get into town… In the process of setting up a studio in the double garage under the house so will be interesting to see what come of it all. Hopefully going to bust out the 4×5 for some large format goodness
Its been a while since I have been out street shooting (or even shooting at all) and I am surprised how out of practice I really am…
Must get out more!!
Same flowers but after a week of sitting on my desk
I have been collecting flowers given to me by my 3 year old for scanning. These are the flowers from last week on the same day they were given.
Yes I am supposed to be doing something else…
I was looking back through some images and couldn’t resist putting up this series.
I should probably go back to what I am supposed to be doing
One of the few times I actually got into a darkroom to print
The workman inside
Half and Half
Window outline in sports finder mode
Blurry toilet self
Abstract shadow self
Marble wall reflection
And sometimes you just kinda miss…
I was told I look angry in this one but I think I was just concentrating on getting someone walking by
Shop display crouch
Shadow mirror goodness
Movember Series: Charlie Chaplin
Hey I have a needle stuck through my lip… Photo Op!
I think this is probably one of my favourite ones: Explorer
Cameras: Rolleiflex, Nikon F5, Nikon D70s and D90
Here goes some shots from last weekends shoot with Melissa, Alicia and Renee.
These are from my F5 that was loaded with Ilford Delta 3200 Film and were possibly the only images that really looked like I saw them in my head. I only started using it near the end of the shoot rather than reloading my RZ67 and Rolleiflex.
Sometimes you just cant really beat using film
Nikon F5, 50mm f1.8 Lens, Ilford Delta 3200 ISO Film, CanoScan 9000F Scanner.
A couple of polariods from Saturdays shoot with Melissa, Alicia and Renee. The second one had a bit of a light leak from the back not being attached properly but I still like it
Mamiya RZ67, 180mm Lens, Polariod Back, Fuji Fp100 Film, CanoScan 9000F Scanner.
Another shot from the abandoned school in Petone…
Ever wondered what to do when you are out walking your chair and you have to quickly duck in somewhere? Apparently the best place to leave it is your friendly neighbourhood bike park
Rolleiflex 2.8 E, Ilford HP5+ 400 ISO Film, CanoScan 9000F Scanner.
I love when people give me flowers although I love waiting for them to die so I can scan them more
Another shot from Holga Pano
Holga 120 Camera converted to 35mm Panoramic (see how to do HERE), Ilford Delta 100 ISO Film (Expired), CanoScan 9000F Scanner.
